How long do I have to hold my permit if I am an adult?
If you are 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent to 24 years old you must hold your permit for 3 months violation free.

When do I log my driving hours?
In Maryland, new drivers under age 25 must complete 60 hours (with 10 being at night) of supervised driving before taking the road test. If you are 25 or older, you must log 14 hours (with 3 being at night) of supervised practice.
When Should You Log Hours?
✅ Start logging your driving hours after receiving your learner's permit
✅ Practice with a qualified supervisor (must be 21+ years old and have held a license for at least 3 years)
✅If you forgot to log your hours when you received your permit you may backdate the times you knew you drove and practiced however it can only be back-dated to the issue date of your permit and it must be on days and times you drove.

How do I log my hours?
To meet Maryland's supervised driving requirements, you must track your practice hours using the official MVA Driving Practice Log & Skills Checklist (Form RD-006).
